Chapter 73

Elena’s loud knock on the door echoed in the narrow beige hallway. The sound of rustling behind the door sent tiny pricks all around Harry’s body. It sent him back to the moment when he was going to fight for Elena, and then to the moment when he left without her. Elena looked up at Harry, his nervous expression was evident on his face, he couldn’t even pretend to hide it.

‘Hey.’ Elena said, breaking Harry’s concentration causing him to look down at her.

‘What?’ Harry stuttered.

‘Everything’s going to be fine.’ She turned to the side and grabbed a hold on both of his hands. ‘Just give them a chance. They’re the only family I have.’ Harry could see the sadness glaze over her eyes as she uttered those words.

They both watched as seconds later the door swung open to see Elena’s sister Abigail standing in the doorway. Elena immediately dropped Harry’s hands and jumped into her sister’s arms. If Harry wasn’t so nervous he probably would have smiled at the sight.

Chapter 69

Elena and Harry raced down the steps to the dining hall, tightly holding hands. Elena’s hair was still slightly wet as she didn’t have enough time to finish blow drying it and she just knew that Charles would pick up on that fact right away. She didn’t truly understand why Charles despised her with such a passion. She was always kind and caring towards him, and she made his son happy. Why wasn’t all of that enough? She smart, well educated, witty, sweet. She smelled nice, she always looked polished and she didn’t smoke or drink. She was a perfect influence on his son, yet, he still has such a strong, uncalled for distaste for her.

‘Are you sure that this is going to be okay, I’m completely intruding on this dinner!’

‘Don’t worry. It’s going to be fine.’

‘Harry, I’m still worrying!’

‘Stop!’ Harry bellowed, pulling her back from taking another step and kissed her colour stained lips.

‘Someone could see us, quit it!’ Elena said, slightly pushing Harry away from her lips.

They both dashed towards the ballroom. Seconds later they went running into the room together to see William, Kate, Charles and Camilla already sitting down.

They all turned around to see them standing at the door, panting from running so quickly. Elena suddenly noticed the large smirk plastered on Kate’s face; she then tapped on William’s thick, muscular thigh and he leaned into her. She whispered something into his ear only to have him look up and make the same expression that was shown on his wife’s face. Elena didn’t understand what they were looking at until she noticed it; they were starring at her hand, the hand that was still linked together with Harry’s. She immediately dropped her hand from his in embarrassment; although William and Kate were completely loving it.

‘Sorry we’re late.’ Harry said.

She watched as Charles rose from his comfortably padded red velvet chair.

‘I didn’t know that you would be joining us today, Miss Anderson. I wasn’t aware that I sent you and invitation to this dinner.’ Charles sneered.

‘I’m sorry, Your Highness, I’ll be going then.’ She curtsied and tired to slip out of the room, but before she could leave Harry slipped his fingers though hers once more.

‘Dad, she’s staying. Claire can set another spot for her.’

‘No, Harry, it’s fine. I’ll just go eat with Harriet; I haven’t seen her yet anyways.’ Elena insisted.

‘Yes, Harry, she wants to go eat with the help, so let her. Remember, after all she used to be one.’

‘Dad, listen here-.’ Harry began to yell.

‘Harry,’ Elena tugged on his hand. ‘Just drop it. I’ll see you tomorrow.’ Elena dropped his hand and went rushing out of the room, utterly embarrassed and trying not to cry. She insisted to Harry that he coming would be a bother; that Charles wouldn’t want her there, and now she was completely humiliated.

‘Elena.’ A soft voice rang from a few steps away. Elena spun around to see Camilla standing at the door of the dining hall. ‘You are welcome to have dinner with us.’ She was smiling brightly at her.

‘No, I better not, but congrats about the whole coronation. Queen, that’s very exciting I guess.’ She just smiled and nodded. ‘Are you sure you don’t want to?’

‘I’m fine.’

‘Well I expect to see you at tomorrow’s event.’ She winked.

Elena just smiled at her, turned around and headed back to her room.

‘We really don’t want you eating alone! Plus, Harriet’s working right now.’ She bellowed.

‘I’m fine, really.’ She turned around and smiled once more.

But of course, she was lying. How could she be okay when the person who would be the King of England in a day despised her?

How could any good come from that?

Prince Harry Fanfiction: Preview of Chapter 69

The chapter’s not even close to being finished but I’m going to post a preview because I have the best readers in the world (no exaggeration.)

‘No, Lena, you’re putting it on.’ Harry insisted.

‘No. I’m really not!’ Elena bellowed, folding her arms over her chest. Harry had managed to take off her yoga pants and tank top, leaving her standing in her matching forest green underwear and bra. Harry had taken the perfectly structured beige Michael Kors shift dress that he had purchased for her and slipped it off the hanger. He was doing his best attempt to place it on Elena’s perfectly toned body, but she just wouldn’t have it.

‘Lena! Please. Just put on the fucking dress!’ Harry yelled. He was fed up with trying to get her to come. Half of him thought that she was just playing around; trying to get his attention but the other half of him thought that she truly didn’t want to go. That his father and pushed her into a state of fear that she wouldn’t want to come and celebrate such a momentous occasion, or any other occasion at all. Harry knew that Elena would regret it if she didn’t go so he was trying his best to persuade her, but nothing seemed to be working.

‘Harry! Could you just respect the fact that I don’t want to go, the fact that if your father would kick me out of a simple dinner shows that he will gladly kick me out of his coronation. He doesn’t like me, I get it. I don’t need to be embarrassed again, especially in front of the whole world.’

‘Then do it for Camilla. You know she likes you. And plus, who will Kate hang out with if you’re not there?’

Elena made a loud scoffing noise. ‘She’ll have Sophie, Beatrice, Eugenie, Zara and the other billion people who will be fighting for her attention. Plus, I won’t even be seated with Kate or you for that matter.’

‘Do you want to be seated with me?’ Harry asked, his eyes peering down at her.

Elena thought about it for a second, she imagined herself seated in a perfectly handcrafted chair sitting in that Michael Kors dress beside Harry in his uniform and watching as Charles and Camilla glide down the aisle to the crowning. But then she snapped back into reality and  just pushed her nose up in the air and made a prissy noise. ‘No need, because I will not be attending.’ Elena grabbed her bathrobe off of the bathroom door handle and swung it over herself, covering up her bare skin.

‘Fine. Fine. Don’t come. It’s your decision. I understand why and I’m sorry that it’s like that.’

‘I’ll see you when you get back.’  Elena tried to fake a smile, but she was too upset. Of course she wanted to go. Of course she wanted to feel out of place mingling with people who have more money in the bank now then she ever will in a lifetime. Of course she wanted to silently judge what all the other girls were wearing and of course she wanted to sit beside Harry, gossip with Kate and reassure William that he looked dapper. But she couldn’t. Not with the hate that she received from Charles. Just thinking of the negative possibilities sent shivers up her spine. She couldn’t face them; no way.

Chapter 66

Elena woke up bright and early and rolled over to see Harry laying beside her, lightly snoring. She slipped out of bed, making sure to not wake Harry and changed out of her pyjamas. She ran a comb through her slightly tangled hair and then left her bedroom. Seeing Harry sound asleep made her heart ache. He looked so peaceful, so perfect. Even his snores were adorable. She could watch Harry sleep for hours on end. On the other hand, she could never do that with Dean, he snored too loud and sometimes he drooled. She felt so utterly safe wrapped tightly in Harry’s arms last night. It felt like all of her worries had melted away and she didn’t have to think about anything at all. She liked that. She liked the simplicity.

Elena pushed her chair out at the breakfast table to join William and Kate who were both munching Corn Pops. Elena grabbed the box of cereal and milk and poured it evenly into the bowl. She looked up to see her two best friends with giant smirks on their faces as if they were about to burst into laughter.

‘What in the world is going on?’ Elena asked.

Chapter 65

Elena darted out to her room still wearing her plaid flannel pyjamas. Left over tears were still streaming from her eyes as she gripped onto the large amount of journals that were given to her hours before.

She didn’t know where Harry was, only that he was somewhere in Kensington which was massive. She was never going to find him. Nevertheless she went speeding down the hallway attempting to find him. She looked in every room on her floor, franticly searching for him. She reached the second last door on the left and pushed it open without knocking as the little patience that she had was quickly slipping away.

‘Harry?’ Elena said, hot tears streaming down her cheeks.

She could see all of his things were sprawled out all over the floor so she knew she was in the right place, finally, but the only thing missing, the only important thing was Harry. Elena stepped out of the room and closed the door behind her. She trudged back to her room, walking possibly the slowest she ever had so that the floorboards wouldn’t creak so one on one would wake up. She didn’t want to explain to some palace worker what she was doing up so late at night opening all of the doors and carrying a large pile of books. She didn’t have the time, nor did she really care to.

As she drew closer to her room she noticed that someone had turned her light on. Fear suddenly took over Elena’s body a she knew that she had turned the light off. Someone unknown was in her room, possibly stealing her stuff or maybe even worst. Elena lightly pushed open the door to her room, shielding parts of her face as she was too petrified to see who was waiting for her.

She crept in as quietly as possible only to see a familiar face looking back at her.

‘Elena, I have to tell you something.’ Harry was standing in front of her in his button down blue pyjamas. Elena felt relieved to see his face, but also terrified that they were in the same room together, alone.

More tears escaped from Elena’s eyes, strolling down her face as she whimpered. She dropped the journals and covered her face with her hands and turned around to face the wall. She couldn’t do this. Harry ran over to her immediately and smothered her with his large muscular arms.

‘Elena, what’s wrong.’ Harry wondered, worried that he had done yet another thing to upset her.

‘Don’t scare me like that!’ Elena stuttered. ‘Don’t just come into my room unexpectedly while I’m gone; I thought you were some kind of killer!’

‘Don’t worry, it’s just me.’ Harry let out a quiet chuckle and then removed his arms from Elena, freeing her to move about. He began picking up all of the journals which were scattered on the floor.

‘I have to show you something.’ Elena said. She pulled open the first journal and pointed at the page describing Elena and Harry’s first meeting. ‘Is this true? Did you- did you-lo-love me from the first time you saw me?’ Elena hesitantly asked. It felt like it took Harry years to answer the question.

‘Of course.’ He whispered. ‘Of course I did. Look at you. You’re beautiful. Plus, you didn’t give me the time of day, I liked that. Every other girl let’s me get away with anything I want, but not you. You never once cared that I was a prince.’ Harry had sat down on the bed and was playing nervously with his thumbs.

Elena just giggled as she sat down beside him on the bed.

‘And look at this one. And this one!’ Elena pointed out different pages for him to read. Elena didn’t know Gran would even want him reading all of this, but at this moment in time, she didn’t care. Elena pointed to the last page in the last book. She watched as Harry mumbled the words “if it’s the last thing I do.” She could see the tears that were forming in his eyes. He looked up at Elena, who was starring back into his deep blue orbs.

‘You can’t marry him. I’m not going to let you.’ He blurted out. You don’t belong with him you belong here, with Will and Kate and me. Please just don’t marry him, I can’t live without you. I know I messed up and it’s haunted me for this entire time. I can’t do anything without thinking about you and what you’d be saying or thinking if you were with me. I can’t get you out of my head. I need you with me to keep me sane. Elena, I love you, I always have and I always will. I’ll love you forever and I’ll never stop fighting for you. Please, just don’t do it.’

Elena’s heart was pounding abnormally, and unhealthily fast. Breathing felt impossible and the sweat coming off of her hands was unnatural.

‘Please. Just please.’ Harry begged. He was rubbing his hand on his forehead as though he was horrified that he had just said what he was actually feeling.

‘Harry, I just-‘

‘You just what? Can’t leave him, or you love him, because both are very different things.’ He still couldn’t look at her.

‘Why did you do it? Why did you cheat on me? Harry, you broke my heart.’ Elena had finally asked him the question that had haunted her for over a year.

‘I don’t know. I just can’t explain it. Kate says it’s because I was scared. She says it’s because I was scared of everything that was happening. Nothing in my life had ever been so perfect before, I never had someone like you to complete me, and now that I had it, now that I had you, it horrified me. I didn’t want to lose you, so in turn I just sabotaged everything. I know, it doesn’t make any sense, but at the same time it does in my head.’

‘So you hurt me before I could hurt you.’ Elena mumbled. Harry just put his head down in shame as she was exactly right. ‘Harry, you broke my heart, a year ago you broke my heart.’

‘I know. I know I did. But when you left you broke mine too, but the difference is that I can’t get over you.’

‘You think that I’m over you? You think that I don’t think about you every day? You think that I’m perfectly happy now? Well I’m not, Harry! Everywhere I go and everyone I meet I compare to you, including Dean, and he knows it too. He knows that he can’t measure up to you and I know it kills him. I think that I see you everywhere. Half the nights I can’t sleep and if I do I dream of you. I have to tell myself I love Dean because I’m so busy trying to forget about you. But I can’t let you go; do you even understand how frustrating that is? You cheated on me, embarrassed me in front of the whole world, and I still can’t stop thinking about you!’ Elena had now stood up and was practically yelling her feelings at him. ‘You wrecked me for everyone else! Do you know how that feels to not be able to move on with your life because you’re so consumed with thinking about someone else, who isn’t your fiancé?’

‘Yes, I do actually, well except for the fiancé part.’ Harry said, standing up to face her.

Elena and Harry just stared each other down, both of their hearts pounding through their chests. Neither of them could hold back anymore. They rushed towards each other and Elena leaped into Harry’s large arms. She jumped up, wrapping her legs around his waist. She brushed her hands though his think fiery red hair and pushed her lips against his. She felt Harry twirl his fingers though her hair just like he always used to do, driving her wild. All of her emotions came rushing to her heart as she kissed Harry once more. He tasted the same and felt the same; everything was familiar, and perfect. The softness of his lips caressing hers make her heart melt and her palms sweat. Tingles shot to hers spine as she felt Harry press his lips to her neck. She then felt his frisky hands pull on the buttons on her flannel pyjama top, slowly undoing the buttons.

But then she saw a flash of light out of the corner of her eye. It was her wedding ring, the ring that symbolizes Elena’s commitment to another man.

‘Harry, Harry!’ Elena called, moving away from his sweet slips. She placed her feet back down on the ground and unravelled her hands from the back of his neck. ‘As far as Dean is concerned, I’m sound asleep in my own bed right now, not kissing my ex-boyfriend in my room with a bed right next to us.’ Elena quickly buttoned her pyjama top back up. ‘Until I tell Dean whatever I decided, this can’t happen.’ Elena gestured to herself and Harry, trying to say “we can’t kiss until I dump my fiancé, but in a nicer way.”

‘Oh, okay.’ Harry said. Heading towards the door. Elena pressed her small hand on his chest, stopping him from advancing any farther to the exit. “I said we couldn’t have sex, Harry, I didn’t say that you couldn’t stay here.’ She flashed a small smile. A large grin stretched across Harry’s face. He followed her quickly back over to her bed. Both of them climbed in and Harry wrapped his arms around her and gave her one quick peck on the cheek. Elena knew that this is what felt right, and she hadn’t felt it in a long time.

The two fell asleep all cuddled up together and didn’t move until the sun rose the next morning. Neither Elena nor Harry had slept so wonderfully in over a year. And now, Elena knew that there was no more denying that she loved Harry, because she did, and she knew that was never going to stop and she never wanted it to.

Chapter 64

‘I have to go Dean, I have to go to England and go to her funeral. I have to go see William and Kate, they must be heartbroken.’ Elena couldn’t stop crying. She couldn’t believe that she was gone. She had just talked to her less than a month ago and she was doing great. She had told her all about the Remembrance Day ceremony and she blabbed on about how she and Kate made an apple pie together and it tasted great. Who was going to nag her about being with Harry? Who was she going to talk to about the things she couldn’t tell Kate, about the things that only she knew about her sister? No one understood how close they were and in a blink of an eye she was gone. She never even got to say goodbye.

‘Harry must be heartbroken too.’ But Dean didn’t sound sympathetic at all, but he seemed rather jealous and angry about it. ‘You’re going to see him then?’ His bitter tone aggravated Elena. Originally, Elena didn’t even think about Harry being there but now, oh goodness, she was going to have to face him. There was no way around it anymore. She was going to see Harry after all of this time.

‘Yes.’ Elena proclaimed. ‘Of course he will be heartbroken Dean, he grandmother just died! Show some respect!’ Elena didn’t really think about it initially, but he must just be a complete and utter wreck. First is mother and now his grandmother. How could Harry even bother to trust women if they all left him, just like Elena did? Her stomach dropped as she thought about how he must be feeling.

‘So are you going to hang out with him the entire time you’re there?’ He sneered. Dean was clearly mad that he was going to be with her, but what was she going to do? Not show up? This was one of the most important people in her life! Elena started to get more and more frustrated with Dean. How could he be so selfish at this time, I mean, did he not trust to make smart decisions? She was engaged now, to Dean, and she was going to honour that commitment that she made.

‘No, of course not. Of course I don’t want to hang out with him. But it’s more than likely that I will have to talk to him, but Dean, you have nothing to worry about because I love you.’ Elena lightly kissed her fiancé’s lips. Dean pulled away and looked at her sad eyes. He could tell that she was hurting and that she was heartbroken. He wiped away the tears that were resting in her cheeks with his palm.

‘Would you like to come with me? You can meet my best friends if you’d like. I mean they are going to come out our wedding, but maybe you want to meet them first.’

‘How about this.’ Dean smiled. ‘I’ll come a day after the funeral, it wouldn’t be right if I came because I never met her. I feel like this is kind of a family thing.’

Elena completely understood and thought it was sweet that he didn’t want to intrude.

‘Okay, darling, that’s fine.’  She stood up and kissed his forehead, then waltzed off to her room and began to pack.

She was finally going home.

Chapter 63

It had been over a year since Elena had seen Harry in that cab. It felt like a dream to Elena more than a memory.  She never saw Harry again after that, and there relationship became something that was blocked from Elena’s mind. She tried her best to not think about Harry as she felt that it strained her relationship with Dean.

Elena still managed to talk to Kate almost twice a week. They talked more when William was off doing his army training as she was constantly sad and needed her best friend’s guidance; even in she was millions of miles away from her. They sent each other pictures of what was going on in their life, Elena had put almost all of Kate’s into a scrapbook that she was going to give to her the next time they saw each other.

Elena hadn’t been back to England since she had left last time. She never had any time for travel anymore as she was constantly with Dean at his photo shoots and other appointments. Needless to say, their relationship was going splendidly; as smooth as ever. They were incredibly in tune with each other in every way possible. Their relationship was easy, smooth running, functional, perfect. She loved how Dean made her feel; they just complemented each other perfectly. Elena had moved into Dean’s apartment a little while back and adored living with him. He would make her breakfast in the morning and dinner at night, not to mention he made the best desert in the world. Elena always credited Dean to her going up a pant size, not that it mattered because Dean loved her for her.

Elena looked quite different; she had changed a lot in the last year and a bit. She had cut off her long straight locks and now had a shoulder length style with a side fringe. She had gained a small amount of weight, but it just made her look healthier, cuter, and even more adorable; she actually quite liked it. She wore less makeup, but still looked beautiful. But even after all of this change she still noticed one thing that she couldn’t escape or fix; her eyes weren’t has bright; and her smile didn’t shine as big. Deep down she knew exactly why, but no way was she ever going to come face to face with it.

It was winter, but since they were in Vancouver it was more like autumn. It had barely snowed all year, which frustrated Elena because the one thing she missed most about Canada was the cold and the snow. Now way was she going to make snow angels in the slush; that just wasn’t an option.

Elena was out with Dean, hiking in the woods as Dean had quite turned her on to doing so. She didn’t mind trudging through the snow anymore or getting her shoes a bit mucky. She had changed so much, she actually could believe it. Being away from England for so long, she kind of forgot who that person that lived there was, she was a different girl. She felt like the girl who lived there was just a memory, not someone who she actually use to be.

‘Come on, let’s take this shortcut.’ Dean said, pointing over to a narrow path. ‘I’m getting cold and I want to go back.’

‘Fine.’ Elena said, not thinking anything of it.

They walked put the never-taken-before path until they reached a large field covered in snow. Elena’s face lit up as she saw the white crystals that were lying on the ground.

‘Dean! How did you find this place?’ Almost all of the snow in Vancouver was either melted or had turned to slush. This was the first time Elena had seen proper snow in what felt like forever. Before Dean could answer the question, Elena had bolted towards the field and felt to her knees. She threw her mittens off and shoved her fingers into the snow. She then topped over and just lay in the pile of snow, not caring that her jeans were going to get soaked or that her jacket may get ruined.

‘You don’t remember?’ Dean said quizzically. Elena didn’t bother to look up at him, she was too busy rapidly making as many snow angels as she could.

‘Why would I?’ Elena was confused.

‘Elena, this was the place where I asked you to be my girlfriend. And I have something important to ask you now.’ Elena sat up from making her fourth snow angel in a row.

Her heart stopped.

She couldn’t breathe.

Dean was in front of her, down on one knee, holding out a small velvet box.

‘Elena, I love you. I’ve loved you from the second I saw you. Every single day I spend with you is the best day of my life and you make me a better person. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to get old with you and I want to be in love with you forever. So, Elena Anderson, would you make me the happiest, luckiest man in the world and marry me?’

Tears were streaming down her face and quickly turning into little icicles. She stood up slowly from her snow angel and walked over to Dean who was only a few steps away.

‘Stand up.’ She said. Dean nervously rose up, still looking at her with his large dark eyes. He was clearly nervous as no person ever sweats in -10 degree weather. ‘Yes, of course. Of course I’ll marry you!’ Dean slipped the most beautiful, simple, elegant princess cut, single stone wedding ring on her finger. Elena jumped into his arms and knocked him down into the snow. She kissed him as passionately as she could. She was so happy, she was going to marry such a wonderful man who would love her and provide for her for the rest of their lives.

After rolling around in the snow for a little while, having a snowball fight and attempting and miserably failing at making a snowman they decided to go home. Plus, their clothes were soaked to a point where Elena didn’t know if they’d ever be able to dry.

Elena opened the door to their apartment and began to tear off her soaked clothing. While she unzipped and removed all of her layers she picked up the phone and called Kate; she had to tell her best friend the news.

While the phone was ringing Elena felt Dean come up behind her and wrap his arms around her. She could feel his warm, naked skin against her back. He pushed Elena’s shoulder length hair out of the way of her neck and began to slowly kiss her. Elena giggled as each kiss slightly tickled. She felt him pull at her wet jeans, but trying to remove them from the back was quite challenging.

Elena began to laugh. ‘Stop it Dean!’ she giggled as she felt his hands slip down to her bum, into the pockets of her pants.

The ringing stopped and Elena heard a frantic Kate answer the phone.

‘Did you get my voicemail?’ Kate was crying harder than she had ever heard her before.

‘No! What’s wrong?’ Elena pushed Dean off of her. Something horrible was clearing happening.

Kate just sobbed even louder.

‘Kate! What’s happening?’ tears flooded Elena’s eyes, almost completely impairing her vision.

‘It’s Gran! The Queen, she died a few hours ago.’

Elena didn’t know to do. She dropped the phone in shock. Then she just fell to the floor and began to wale. Dean rushed to her side.

‘Elena, What’s wrong?’ Dean screamed.

‘Gran, Elizabeth, the Queen. She-she’s- she’s dead.’ Elena couldn’t breathe. It felt like losing her family again; like losing her second mother.

Elena just sobbed as hard as she could for hours, not moving off the floor once.

She couldn’t believe that she was gone.

Elena was never going to see her again.

Chapter 62

Elena heard the loud sound of tiers screeching on the road.  She whipped her head around to see the taxi cab that had just turned around. She scowled at the driver for causing such a fuss, but then she noticed something that made her heart ache. The man sitting in the back of the car looked identical to Harry. She squinted her oval eyes as the sun was shining extra brightly down on her. She could see the man looking back at her with his piercing blue eyes.

That was Harry in that cab, she was sure of it. Her heart was pounding as she thought of Harry being so close to her. She couldn’t tell if she was happy to see him or not as her heart was telling her to run and that cab and passionately kiss the man sitting in the backseat but her mind was telling her to leave and to not look back.

She had to know if it was him for sure, she just had to. She took a step forward towards the cab but she felt Dean’s grip tighten on her hand and he pulled her back.

‘What are you doing?’ Dean asked.

‘I was just- I think I saw.’ Elena knew that she couldn’t tell Dean that she thought that she had just seen Harry, he would throw a fit. ‘Nothing, I don’t know what I was doing.’ Elena began to walk away and she heard the sound of the car speeding off again. Elena knew in her heart that that was Harry.

Elena walked up to Dean’s apartment reciting Dean is my boyfriend, I adore him over and over again. But she was having a hard time convincing herself. She wanted to chase after that cab so badly, she needed to at least know if that was Harry sitting there, looking back at her.

‘Well? Are you going to come in our stand outside for a little while?’ Elena was too busy pondering, thinking about Harry to realise that Dean had already opened the door, taken off his shoes and coat and was now pouring a glass of water for himself.

‘Actually, erm, I’m not feeling to great, I’m going to go and lie down for a bit. Plus, I got to call my Gran, I said that I’d call her forever ago but I’ve been too busy with you to remember to call her.’

‘Oh, okay then sweetie, I’ll see you later.’

Elena closed the door for him and she walked up to her room. She pushed her key in the lock  and opened the door to see Clark and Abigail bandaging up Clark’s knuckles.

Elena ran through the entrance right to her injured brother.

‘What did you do?’ Elena yelled, looking at his cut up knuckles. She saw Dean and Abigail  exchange a weird glance, making Elena even more worried.

‘I, erm, slipped and hit my hand through a, erm, vase.’ Elena didn’t believe that for a second. She knew knuckles looked like after you punched someone, especially Clark’s. After their parent’s had died, Clark got in fights galore, he was always on edge and hated when people would pity him for his parents passing. He just had so much extra anger built up inside of him that he would try and fight anyone who looked at him ‘the wrong way.’

Elena just brushed it off. If he didn’t want to tell her, he didn’t have to, they were adults now.

‘I need you guys to be really quite for a little while, I’m going to call the queen.’

‘Okay.’ Abigail muttered as she finished tending to her brothers wounds.

Elena waltzed into her bedroom and picked up the cordless phone that was propped up on the charger. She dived onto the bed and began to dial the Queen’s direct line, which she knew off by heart.

Seconds later she heard the sweet sound of the Queen’s posh English accent ringing in her ears.

‘Hello?’ the Queen said.

‘Hi Gran! How are you doing?’ just the quick sound of the Queen’s voice cheered Elena up.

‘Elena!’ The Queen bellowed. ‘How are you doing darling, I miss seeing your pretty face every day!’

‘Oh, well I’m doing okay, I’ve actually got myself a new boyfriend, his name is Dean.’

The Queen didn’t say a word.

‘He’s really nice, and kind and quite fit if I may say so myself.’

The Queen still didn’t say anything.

‘Gran, are you still there?’

‘So you’ve given up on Harry then. Well isn’t this just wonderful. So I guess you can’t call me Gran anymore since the hopes of you marrying my grandson have completely disappeared.’ The Queen was clearly outraged to hear this news.

‘But Gran!’ Elena hollered.

‘No, it’s Your Majesty to you know.’

‘But-.’

‘No buts. Now do you have anything else of significance to say to me or is the conversation over?’ Elena didn’t think that she had ever heard the Queen this furious.

‘I think I saw Harry today.’ Elena blurted out. She originally wasn’t going to tell the Queen anything about what she thought she saw but she needed to keep her on the phone, she needed to hear her voice and just be with her.

‘What?’ The Queen stuttered.

‘I think I saw Harry today.’ Elena repeated. ‘I think he came to see me but I just missed him. I think I saw him in a cab leaving right in front of my flat.’

‘Well Harry came to see me the other day saying that he was going out of town but he didn’t tell me where.’ Elena couldn’t breathe. That was Harry, he was right there in her grasp and she didn’t chase after him. She lost the opportunity to tell him how much he hurt her and how mad she was at him.

But mostly, what Elena wanted to do, even though she knew she shouldn’t because she now had a boyfriend, was to kiss Harry. For days that’s all she was thinking about. She began missing his soft touch, the way he smelled, the special smile that was just for her. Well, at least it used to be. She missed the feeling of his tall body wrapped around her small figure. She missed all the joking around and teasing each other. She missed sneaking off and making out with him. She missed the way his lips tasted; like orange tick tacks and sometimes the occasional cigarette; Elena wasn’t very keen on the cigarette part. She missed his light blue eyes and the weird way they crinkled when he smiled. She missed the way he would light up when he saw a child. She missed his soft hands and the way everything just felt right when they were connect with hers. She missed feeling save with him, like no one in the world could hurt her when he was there.

But everything she was missing she knew was wrong for two reasons. One, Harry had cheated on her. She shouldn’t ever love someone who did that to her because it was wrong. He had betrayed her trust and made her look like a fool. How could she love that? Second, she had a boyfriend who she was supposed to be falling in love with.  She was suppose to be thinking of Dean constantly and how he made her feel, but something inside of her made it impossible to remove Harry from her thoughts and it extremely aggravated her.

‘So it was him.’ Elena gasped.

‘I guess so; it’s very Harry to go chasing after the things he loves.’

Elena suddenly began to sob  uncontrollably.

‘I never got to tell him how mad I am at him. I never got to fight with him. I never got to do anything. I just let him get away with it!’ The volume of Elena’s sobs grew louder with every Harry-related thought that passed through her mind.

‘Then go find him. Go tell him how mad you are, you deserve to!’ the Queen said quietly, trying to calm Elena down.

‘I can’t.’ Elena mumbled, her cries decreased.

‘Why not?’

‘Because I have Dean, and I can’t do this to him. I also can’t do this to my heart anymore. I love Harry, I do, and I’ve been trying for a month to fight this but I clearly can’t. I think that I will always love him, but I have to let him go. I have to let go of everything if I ever want to move forward with my life because it is obvious that we are unhealthy for each other and that we hurt each other more than we work together.’

The Queen let out a loud sigh, ‘I understand. I really do. I know that you both have had your fair share of hard times and that being with someone you love isn’t always easy. But I still believe, and will always believe that you and Harry will be together forever. I know it may not work right now, but there are just people that you are meant to be with and I think that Harry is your match, not this Dean character.’

‘I don’t know, Gran, I just don’t know anymore.’ Elena’s lower lip quivered as though she was going to break down again.

‘Just trust me dear. And just to let you know, if for some horrible reason you both do not end up together and Harry marries someone else, I will not  be happy, not one bit.’

‘I know you won’t.’ Elena cracked a small smile.

‘Well, my darling Elena, I must go, I have afternoon tea with the Ambassador of Norway now.’

‘Sounds fun.’ Elena let out a quiet giggle.

‘Sure.’ The Queen said sarcastically. Elena just laughed louder. ‘See you soon.’ Then, she hung up the phone.

Elena sat in her room, the silence taking control of her body. She began to quietly sob again, just lying motionless on her bed.

Harry had finally arrived to his empty, depressing, shit excuse for a home, house. He smacked his keys on the table and kicked off his shoes. He hung his coat on the back of one of his bar stool chairs and walked down to the basement without turning on any lights. He flopped down onto his big leather couch and took his cell phone out of his pocket. He dialled in Kate’s speed dial and put the phone to his ear. As he waiting for her to answer he immersed himself in a sea of wool blankets.

‘Did you talk to her? Did you see her? Did you win her back? Is she with you? What happened?’ Kate didn’t bother to even say a quick hello. Clearly she needed answers, and fast.

‘I saw her that was it. No talking, no nothing. I saw her brother and sister and talked to them. Her brother actually gave me a pretty good shiner.’ Harry put his fingers to his bruised eye. He flinched as it felt like someone was stabbing him, even though he barely applied any pressure to it.

‘Her brother hit you! Oh my god! But wait, if you saw her, why didn’t you say anything to her?’

‘I was in a taxi and she was walking with her new boyfriend. Kate, she’s completely replaced me. And the most annoying part is that he seemed really cool.’ Harry sighed as he thought of them walking together, cuddling and kissing as they strolled down the street.

‘Oh, Harry, I’m so sorry.’ But realistically, Kate already knew about Dean, but she did still feel awful. ‘So do you have any other plans on how to get her back?’ she asked curiously.

‘Kate, I’m leaving her alone. Her brother and sister both asked me to leave her be and I’m going to respect their wishes. It’s not fair for me to continuously bother her and her family. I don’t want to cause her anymore harm and pain because I love her.

‘No, Harry you can’t just-.’

‘No, I’m not giving up on her, I will never ever give up on her, but I’m just respecting her family like she would want me to. Maybe in the future we will see each other again, maybe then things will be different, but for now, we can’t be together. It pains me to know that this didn’t work out because I wrecked everything.  But this is life and I have to deal with what I am given. I just wish that I was more careful with things like Elena. I have to respect what they asked me to do because they have Lena’s best wishes in mind. I just need to let her be happy with her new boyfriend and her new life.’

‘Harry, no.’ Kate pleaded; it sounded like she was almost in tears.

‘Kate it’s decided. I’m sorry. But I’m letting her go. I’m letting her be happy.’

Then Harry heard it, Kate’s sniffles, and then the loud cries that followed. William snatched the phone from Kate  and said that they were going to go. He hung up the phone.

Harry was all alone in his massive house, sitting in the basement, in the dark.

The tears then hit him too.

Harry began to cry.

Chapter 61

An hour earlier, Harry was sitting in the airport bar sucking down his second scotch and soda. He had scribbled on a napkin exactly what was in his heart, what he so desperately wanted to tell Elena.

‘You’re here to win her back, aren’t you.’ Harry looked up from the napkin to see a busty, red headed, twenty-something year old bartender, the same girl that had served him both times. She put a serving of fries in front of his drink. Harry was rather surprised at how fast they had made them. He took a bite of one, they were delicious. He couldn’t make anything like this at all, or anything for that matter, he could only make one lousy box of Kraft Dinner, and sometimes he would even ruin that too.

He was startled by what she had said. ‘How did you know that?’ he asked.

‘It was in the local paper that your ex-girlfriend was in town visiting her sister after your breakup.’ She grabbed his empty glass and filled it back up for him.

‘Oh.’ He said, squirting some ketchup on the side of the container.

‘Does she know your here?’ the girl questioned.

‘No.’ Harry shoved a couple fries in his mouth.

‘So I’m going to assume that whatever you’re writing on that napkin is going to win her back after you show up at her door.’ Harry was slightly embarrassed; was what he was doing that predicable? ‘Well go on, read me what you’ve wrote. I’ll let you know if it’s any good.’

Harry just stared at the girl, torn between reading it to her and telling her to just piss off.

‘I’m waiting.’ She hollered. Harry gave in. He took another sip of his drink and began.

‘Elena, I love you, I really do, but I know that my actions haven’t shown you that and I’ve treated you with such a low amount of respect and I don’t deserve you. But still, I love you, and I understand if you don’t love me anymore because what I did was utterly despicable. Honestly, I know that you shouldn’t take me back because I was nothing but disrespectful to you. But I still love you and I know that I have to be with you and I am begging you to give me another chance. I know that I’ve messed up before and in all likeliness I’m going to do it again, but I know that we can get though anything together because you are the perfect girl.’ Harry stopped, as he hadn’t written anymore. He looked up to see the girl just staring back.

‘Well that was really sweet, and true, because she probably won’t take you back. I mean, Harry come on, you cheated on her after a year of being together. Like that’s just downright awful. She must have felt like total shit, completely heart broken, like-.’

‘Yeah, I get it!’ Harry interrupted.

‘But, I did like it, it was quite sweet and for your sake, I hope that she does take you back because she seems great, totally beautiful too.’

‘She’s perfect.’ Harry sighed. He got up from the bar and slapped down a hundred dollar bill. ‘Thanks. Keep the change.’ He walked off towards the line of cabs outside the airport exit and slid into the nearest one.

‘Where are you going?’ the man said in the thickest Canadian accent Harry had ever heard. Harry read out Elena’s new address. The cab sped off out of the line up of taxis.

Harry’s hands began to sweat as the thought of being near Elena drove him wild. He hadn’t seen her in a month and remembering what she looked like was getting harder and harder. When he thought about her, he couldn’t totally remember what she looked like. It was like pieces of her were missing in his mind. As each day went by Harry was fighting to keep her there in his mind because he wanted nothing more to just have her there. The funny thing was that Harry had no trouble what so ever thinking of how Elena made him feel, that memory was there to stay. He could remember the way that she smelled and sometimes when he woke up it felt, for a split second, like she was wrapped in his arms. But then he would realise that she’s gone and everything would just hurt.

It took longer than Harry had initially expected to get to Elena’s house. He had already been in the car freaking out for about 20 minutes and he couldn’t take it much longer.

‘Look, could you please speed up.’ Harry was almost yelling at the driver.

The driver stepped harder on the gas and they went zooming down the street. Harry was peering out the window, looking at all the different houses lining the streets. He noticed an adorable couple walking with their arms intertwined. He noticed in the spilt second how beautiful the girl was. Harry thought in the seconds that he saw her that she looked a bit like Elena, but something about her was different; Elena never smiled like that.

The car came to a halt. He stepped out of the car after paying the driver.

‘Wait here.’ Harry’s deep voice rang.

Harry took in a large amount of air then began to walk to the door of Elena’s apartment. He pulled the door open with a quick jolt. As he walked in he felt the heat cover his entire body.

He turned around the corner and headed for the stairs, as Elena’s apartment seemed to not have an elevator. As he climbed the three flights of stairs he refined each word he was going to say to Elena in his grand speech to win her back. Harry thought that he had never been this nervous before, he couldn’t remember a time when his heart was beating that fast or his hands were sweating that much. He pushed through the entrance to the third floor and saw the door directly in front of him read 3A. Chills shot through his entire body. He took another deep breath and then walked forward and stood right in front of her door. Knowing that she was in there drove him mad. The fact that he couldn’t just barge in and kiss her, hold her, love her, drove him mental. The fact that she could just turn him down and tell him to get out of her life made him scared, complete scared.

Harry raised his left and hand knocked on the door three, loud, promenade times. He heard some rustling and then a girls voice say ‘I’ll get it.’

‘Holy shit.’ Harry thought. Elena was coming to the door. He knew there wasn’t enough time to run away but he suddenly didn’t think that he could face what she had to say. That’s it. He couldn’t do this. He turned to run away from all his fears but before he could get to the exit he heard the door creak open.

‘Erm, hello?’ Harry heard. He whipped around to see Elena.

She looked different that he remembered. She seemed taller and thinner. He hair was wavy, which was completely different from her pin straight locks. And then Harry realised when he looked into her eyes. That wasn’t Elena. Elena didn’t have blue eyes, Elena’s eyes were light brown.

That was Abigail. Not Elena. And Abigail was not pleased as she looked at him. Her lips were pursed and her arms folded across her chest.

‘She’s happy. Leave her alone.’ Abigail said harshly. Harry’s heart dropped once again. How could he have been naive enough to think that Elena missed him, that he was even thinking about it? Of course she was happy, because she had moved on.

Then Harry heard another voice, this time male. ‘Abs, who’s at the door?’ Abigail just walked away, but left the door open. Harry saw Elena’s shoes sitting by the door. He knew they were hers because her feet were so abnormally tiny. He couldn’t help but smile a little. Then, someone was blocking them. Harry looked up to see Elena’s brother, Clark.

He stepped outside the door and slammed it shut. Then, before Harry even had time to think, he felt the painful feeling of Clark’s fist hitting his face. As he released, Harry bend down in pain, grasping onto the left side of his face.

‘I can’t even believe you would have the audacity to show your face here, after everything you did to my sister. How dare you cheat on her. How dare you hurt her the way that you did. Just because you’re some bloody prince doesn’t give you the fucking right to go around and treat women, especially my sister, like an object, like a thing that you can just use for a while and then dispose of when you get bored. What did you think was going to happen, you were going to come here and win her back. Well guess what, she doesn’t want to see you, because she’s happy, so incredibly happy. She used to dream about meeting you and falling in love with you, but looks like you turned out to be more like a nightmare for her than a dream. She gets bombarded with phone calls from reporters and news people. She’s never going to be left alone and it’s all because you wrecked her life. I never want to see your face again, especially around here, or anywhere near my sister ever again. Now get out of here.

‘Can I just-.’

‘No.’ Clark cut him off. ‘You can’t talk to her. You can’t see her. You just have to go. So leave now, and never come back.’ Clark pointed to the exit. Harry turned around and walked out, leaving their doorway and Clark.

He ran down the stairs and pushed his way through the door of the entrance of the building. He raced to the cab and slid in.

‘Take me back to the airport.’ Harry commanded. The car turned around and the couple that he had seen blocks back was now right there. He looked at them, the sun glaring on them so it made it difficult to see their smiling faces. But Harry could still tell that they were in love, just by their body language; the way there were all intertwined with each other. Harry looked at the girl;she was beautiful. Her long brown hair was tied back into a pony tail which swished when she walk. She had on a nice pair of flared jeans and a cute polka dotted blouse and then Harry noticed something; she had the exact same coach purse that Elena had. It made his heart stop. He looked closer at her. Her perfect figure, her incredibly tiny feet, her defined nose. The girl looked over at the cab Harry was in as the boy she was with pointed at the kids biking by in front of Harry’s car. Her perfect eyes caught the light, turning them the most perfect shade of brown. Harry suddenly couldn’t breathe. That girl right in front of him was Elena. She was squinting at him, as the sun was hitting the cab, almost blinding her.

‘Stop the cab!’ Harry yelled at the driver. He halted immediately.

Boy she was with looked over at the sound from the tires made a horrible screeching sound.

Harry knew by the look on her face that Elena had seen him sitting in the car. She stopped moving and just starred. Harry starred back. She was so beautiful. So perfect in every way. He was frozen, just looking at her made his heart feel that feeling again. The feeling that had escaped him for a month.

Harry watched as she took a step towards the cab. Harry quickly put his hand on the door handle, ready to push it open. But then the man she was with pulled her back. She whipped her head back to look at him. She took a step back and then began to walk towards the door of her apartment, grasping on the her friend. The light in Harry’s heart went out as she walked in the door. She had disappeared. She didn’t care to see him. She had a new boyfriend. He was replaced.

Harry held everything in and managed not to cry in the cab with the rude cab driver present.

He arrived at the airport half an hour later and pulled all of his things out of the cab. He entered the airport and bought his ticket. He boarder his flight a few hours later.

Harry flew back in England, single, alone, and heartbroken.

Chapter 60: Part 2

‘Let’s go.’ Dean said as he intertwined his fingers with Elena’s and gave her a light peck on her perfectly flushed cheek. It almost seemed as if they were dancing as they walked down the street together, as they kept moving around, hugging one other and swaying around, taking up almost the entire sidewalk. Dean led Elena over to their new cab which was waiting for them at the end of the block. They both seamlessly slid into the brightly coloured taxi which then took off to a location that Elena was, once again, unaware of.

Elena sat impatiently in the cab for about 20 minutes before she felt the unpleasant feeling of gravel hitting the tiers of the car, which jerked her around on the leather seats which her legs were uncomfortably plastered too. Elena pushed herself off of Dean, as she was previously resting her head on Dean’s sculpted chest. She was relaxed by the feeling of Dean running his fingertips through her soft ebony hair, but this was ended as they hit the gravel road.

‘Where are we?’ Elena questioned, looking up at Dean with her large dark eyes.

‘We’re here.’ Dean said, looking out the window.

Elena looked out as well, but saw something that she wasn’t expecting at all. They had just turned onto a pathway connecting to a forest.

‘Dean, where are we?’ Elena said curiously. No way was she going into those woods. The dark ominous trees and the lack of light wasn’t something that was personally appealing to Elena. Plus, the shoes that she was sporting were not shoes that she was going to allow anywhere near dirt and grime.

The car came to a sudden halt and Dean pulled on the door handle which Elena was sure was incredibly unsanitary.

‘Come on.’ Dean said, putting his hand out for her to latch on to. His lips were curled up into a sweet smile, but his eyes told a different story. Elena could tell that he was nervous that she wasn’t going to get out of the car. She could see that he was beating himself up for taking such a pretty girl into the forest; she could tell that he was mad at himself. But of course Elena didn’t want to go walking in the forest; she was a city girl who loved shopping and going to the cinema. But the one thing she loved more, the one thing she craved for that was better than any pair of new shoes or Jenifer Aniston movie was Dean and how he made her feel.

She looked into his worried eyes and smiled a big pearly smile. She picked up her Coach purse which she had purchased in the 12 grade with all of her babysitting money for four and a half months, which she treated like her own child, and strapped it around her shoulder. She slipped her legs out of the cab and grabbed onto Dean’s hand. She watched his face light up as their hands met. He went from secretly frantic to overly pleased, delighted even.

Dean helped her out of the obnoxiously bright vehicle, paid the driver who smelled of tuna and cigarettes and gripped onto the hand of the girl who he thought he was falling in love with.

‘Okay, so where exactly are we going?’ Elena asked, nervous for the outcome.

Dean raised his toned arm and pointed towards the entrance to the forest.

‘It’s only a 15 minute walk, don’t worry, I’m right here. No Edward Cullen’s are going to come and eat you.’ The two began to walk into the depths of the forest.

Elena began to incessantly laugh.

‘I think I’m a bit more worried for an Aragog to come out of those woods and get me than a sparkly vegetarian who wears to much hair gel. I’m sure he’s too busy raising his mutant vampire baby to be busy with us anyways.’ Elena flashed a cheeky grin.

‘Well then I’ll make sure to never follow the spiders with you then.’ Dean swooped in and kissed her temple.

‘You go right ahead and follow the spiders all you want, but Ron and I are going to go follow the butterflies.’ Elena and Dean burst into a loud, uncontrollable laughter. They continued to walk up the rocky path until Elena saw the sun start to emerge from behind the trees. Dean directed her though a large patch of grass; Elena could feel the dew begin to seep through her loafers with every tread.

Then, Elena saw it. She saw why she had to trek through the ominous forest. She saw what Dean had done for her. They had approached a large field, a beautiful field filled with the last of the season’s little white flowers that were in small clusters all over the field. Just a few feet away from them was probably the sweetest thing that Elena had ever seen. Dean had spread a large red and white plaid blanket and had neatly placed a picnic basket in the center. Dean had made them a picnic lunch in the middle of the most magical field.

‘Oh, Dean.’ Elena whispered, she could barely speak at all.

‘Do you like it?’ he breathed, looking down at her. He clearly knew that she loved it; her positively breathless expression said it all.

Elena just bobbed her head up and down. She then looked up at Dean to see a large grin plastered on his face, the utter satisfaction that he displayed as he had just made the most wonderful girl in his life happy. He then lightly pushed his lips to hers; Elena could taste the spearmint gum residue on his lips as he kissed her once again.

Elena grabbed onto Dean’s slightly clammy hands pulled him towards the beautiful set up that he had made.

They sat down on the blanket and both kicked off their shoes.

‘I can’t believe that you did all of this!’ Elena bellowed.

‘Well believe it.’ Dean smirked. He leaned in and kissed Elena’s tender lips once more. ‘Now, you would you like white or yellow potato salad, or do you hate potato salad?’

Elena began to giggle. ‘I’ll have the white please.’ Dean handed her a plate with a small bit of potato salad on it. They began serving themselves all sorts of food that Dean kept pulling out of the large wicker basket that was placed in front of Elena.

They indulged in one of the best home cooked meals that she had ever eaten. Elena was utterly impressed when Dean bragged about that he had made all of the food, and he had every right to do so because it was delectable. Elena couldn’t help but remember how Harry couldn’t cook one thing other than the occasional box of Kraft Dinner. It was nice to have a man to cook for her, especially since he was a damn good cook.

They finished eating moments later; Elena tried her best not to shove all of the food in her mouth at once since it was so delicious. She managed to control herself and semi-ate like a lady.

‘Now, Elena.’ Dean said after swirling his glass of red wine, like a pro, and taking a sip. Elena looked at him, her eyes wide with wonder. What was coming next? ‘We’ve been hanging out for almost a month now.’ Elena held in the laughter; they had been doing a bit more than just hanging out. ‘And I think it’s quite obvious that I am head over heels for you, because you are an amazing, amazing girl. I think it’s time that I ask you, Elena, would I have the honour of being your boyfriend?’

A large grin splashed itself over Elena’s face. Could Dean be any cuter? He could have just simply asked her at anytime, on the couch in their pyjamas, he could have walked up a floor and knocked on her door. He could have sent her a text, anything, but instead he chose to do this grand gesture.

Elena looked devilishly into Dean’s eyes. Her grin turned into a smirk as she looked at Dean’s slightly worried expression.

‘Dean, look.’ Elena said, making her voice deep and regretful. ‘You’re a lovely guy, and a really great cook.’ She trailed off, looking down at her fingernails, pretending to chip away at the invisible nail polish. She then looked up to see that his face at completely dropped. He looked as though he was going to cry, as if everything that he had been planning was a mistake. Elena just let out a devious giggle and put her hands behind his ears and starred straight into his dark glossy eyes. ‘So I would be crazy to not except. Of course I’ll be your girlfriend!’ Before Elena could even lean in and kiss him, Dean had already crashed his lips into hers.

‘You’re the devil.’ Dean laughed as he pulled away from Elena’s pursed lips; he pressed his forehead to hers, closely looking at every speck of colour in her almost-black eyes.

‘Good, so you know what you’re getting yourself into.’ Elena did her best evil laugh, which wasn’t very good at all. It sounded more like a perverted laugh that some immature middle aged man would make every time he saw a nude sculpture.

Dean burst out laughing, laying down on the blanket. Elena watched as he put his hands to his stomach as he was probably in pain from hollering for so long. Elena turned on her back and lay down next to her boyfriend. She repeated it over and over again in her mind Dean is my boyfriend, Dean is my boyfriend, sighing mentally in happiness each time she thought of it.

Dean’s fit died down and he rolled to his right to face Elena. Elena rolled over onto her boney hip and propped her head up with her hand. Her fringe swopped down in front of her eyes and before she had time to push it away, Dean was there, pushing it away for her, like the perfect boyfriend he was.

‘Why thank you kind sir.’ Elena laughed.

‘It was my pleasure, malady.’ Dean smirked, leaving his fingers intertwined in her hair. ‘Elena, I’m really excited about this.’ Dean grinned. Elena felt her face turning red hot, as Dean’s seventh grade chivalry made her blush.

‘Me too’ Elena leaned over and kissed his cheek. Dean’s perfectly sculpted cheek was warm against her lips.

Dean rolled over onto his back and raised his wrist up in the air, looking at his vintage watch.

‘Ah!’ Dean bellowed, hopping up to a standing position. ‘We got to get going; I have one last surprise waiting for us.’ He extended his arm and helped her up. They quickly packed all of the picnic necessities and scurried off back down the bumpy path.

They walked down, hand in hand, occasionally stealing a kiss from one another along the way.  They made it down to the bottom of the path were Elena saw the final surprise. She was immediately horrified.

Standing in front of Elena and Dean was a large horse that looked identical to Maravelle. The horse was attached to a small carriage and a driver to steer the horse in the right way. Elena tightened the grip on Dean’s hand, as she didn’t want to get anywhere near the horse.

‘The horse, Marie, is going to take us home.’ Dean said proudly, as he thought his idea was pure genius. Of course the horse’s name was Marie, that was the nickname that Elena called Maravelle. Every time she tried to escape Harry, he would find a way back into her mind.

Dean looked down at Elena, expecting to see a thrilled expression of joy and excitement but instead noticed Elena’s fearful expression.

‘What’s wrong?’ Dean said, confused. He assumed that all girl loved horses and that everyone wanted to be swooped off in a horse and carriage.

‘I’m deathly afraid of horses.’ Elena mumbled; she felt awful that Dean had gone to all of this trouble planning such a perfect surprise. But all Elena could think about was the feeling in the pit of her stomach, the same exact feeling that she had when Maravelle was trying to throw her off of her back, the feeling she had as she watched Harry get thrown from his horse and his arm breaking.

A feeling of stupidity overcame Dean’s body as he felt like he should have causally asked beforehand if she had some fear of horses or something, I mean, that was a completely rational fear.

‘I’m so sorry.’ Dean whispered.

‘No, no!’ Elena said. ‘We’re taking it back.’ She didn’t want his planning to go to waste, she knew that this meant to him and she just wanted to make him happy.

Elena began to slowly approach the horse, Dean trailed right behind her. The closer she got the more nerves rushed down her spine. Elena was only steps away from the dark haired beast when suddenly she let out a deafening neigh. Elena jumped back right into Dean’s arms. She couldn’t help but start to cry as the noise scared her more than Dean could ever imagine.

‘Shhh.’ Dean said, pulling her in close to his chest. He wrapped one arm around her waist and the other around her shoulder. He rubbed her head, trying to calm her down as she breathed heavily. ‘It’s okay.’ he murmured.

‘I’m so sorry!’ More tears escaped from Elena’s eyes.

‘No. Don’t be. It’s okay.’ Elena felt Dean press his lips to the crown of her head. ‘It’s fine, we’ll take a cab.’ Elena looked up from Dean’s chest to see a large stain from her tears. She put her fingers to it and felt the damp material. Elena felt even worst now.

‘Are you sure?’ Elena quietly asked.

‘Of course!’ Dean forced a smile, even though deep down he was completely gutted. Elena just smiled and hugged him tighter. Dean called a cab and minutes later it arrived. They hopped in and drove away from the forest.

They were just a few blocks away from their apartment when Dean requested to stop the cab where they were. After paying, they slipped out and began to walk down the newly paved sidewalk.

‘I’m really sorry about the horse and carriage, I should have asked.’ Dean looked down at the cement as though he couldn’t bear to hear what Elena had to say, he was so utterly embarrassed.

‘Oh my goodness, don’t even worry about it. I’ve never had a guy even think about doing something even remotely as cool as that for me.’ She smiled up at his glum face. Suddenly his expression changed and he cracked a smile. ‘I had a wonderful time, darling.’ Elena said, twisting her arm around his, linking them together.

‘I did too.’ His smile grew larger. He leaned in and lightly kissed her, Elena kissed him back, running her thin fingers though his perfect locks.

Elena pulled away when she heard a car zoom past her. She pushed herself off of Dean and looked up.

‘Weird, who would be in such a hurry?’ Dean asked.

‘I don’t know.’ Elena pondered who it could be in the car that had just zoomed by her.

The car came to a stop just a few blocks away from where Elena and Dean were slowly walking to.

The door to the car swung open and a tall, handsome red head stepped out. He handed the little Canadian money he had to the driver. ‘Wait here.’ He said to the man in the front seat. He pulled out a piece of crumpled paper from his pocket that read Elena Anderson, 821 Winchest Road, Apartment 3A, Vancouver BC.

Prince Harry looked at the front of the building; the address matched, he was in the right place. This was it. He was finally here, and ready to win Elena back.

Chapter 60: Part 1

Elena was lying on Dean’s couch; her feet perched on the coffee table. She was wearing one of his sweaters as his apartment was at a ghastly cold temperature. His sweater smelled like him which Elena loved.

‘So why did you call me over here so early?’ Elena questioned. Elena was watching the large grandfather clock in the corner of his living room as it just ticked past 6:40AM

‘Because I have something I want to do with you today.’ Dean sat down on the couch beside Elena. He had a large grin on his face as he looked at her; it made Elena slightly uncomfortable, she didn’t understand what was going on.

‘I’m going to take you somewhere.’ Dean said, grabbing on to Elena’s hand.

‘Where?’ she asked curiously.

‘It’s a surprise.’ He smiled keenly again.

Elena took of his sweater and pulled on her maroon fall pea coat. She apprehensively left the apartment with Dean and took a cab down to the mystery location. Just before they arrived Dean pulled out a black scarf from his jean’s left pocket.

‘Close your eyes.’ Dean said, holding the scarf up near her face.

‘No!’ Elena protested. She covered her eyes with her hands and bent down, trying to hide her face.

‘Please! It’s just a surprise! I’m not going to kill you or anything.’ He put his hand on her knee and looked into her eyes, trying to reassure her that everything would be okay.

‘Fine.’ Elena gave in. Dean wrapped the cloth around her eyes, impairing her vision. Elena hated surprises; she hated not know what to expect, she craved stability and order.

Dean helped her out of the taxi. As soon as the door opened she could hear loud noises as if there were a lot of people there. She became even more nervous than before. She didn’t know what was going on. She didn’t understand why he was doing this and it made her utterly anxious.

‘Dean, take it off.’ Elena demanded. She squeezed onto Dean’s hand as hard as she could as she took a few more curious steps forward. ‘Take it off!’ she screamed forcefully. Elena then felt his fingers rush to the knot and he began struggling to untie it. Seconds later she felt the scarf loosen.

‘Are you ready?’ Dean asked. Elena just bobbed her head.

Dean pulled the scarf away from her face to reveal the most beautiful sight. Elena gasped as she looked around at where she was; she couldn’t believe that Dean had brought her here.

‘Do you like it?’ He asked; his eyes wide with mystery. How could she not like it? Dean had brought her to work with him; he had brought her to a photo shoot.

Elena just grasped onto Dean and pulled him in to meet her lips. She pushed her fingers though his hair as she felt his hands grab onto her waist. She was so caught up in the moment; the way he smelled, the crisp air, and the sound of the leave rustling on the ground; everything was perfect. She slightly slipped her tongue past his thin lips and kissed him with a tremendous amount of force. Then Elena heard it; the sound that made her body quiver: the sound of the flash.

Elena snapped away from Dean’s warm body to see a man standing in front of them. Ever since she became one of the most sought after and photographed people in England the sound of flashes made her utterly paranoid.

The man who snapped the photos moved his camera away from his face. The first thing Elena noticed was his perfect smile that he had flashed at Elena. Elena had yet seen whiter teeth than his. His short blonde hair was perfectly layered and framed his harsh jaw line. His black eyes were slightly crinkled from age but the splashes of pink that were set on his cheeks managed to make him look youthful. He pulled the lens cover from for his camera out of charcoal grey double breasted coat and clipped it on to the camera’s massive lens. He raised his hands up in surrender as he displayed a cheeky grin on his perfect face.

‘I won’t take anymore, sweetie, don’t worry.’ He smiled. ‘This must be the girl.’ He said slyly.

‘Elena this is my best friend Nolan Lysander.’ He stuck out his hand and Elena shook it; his grip was tight and professional, as if he had shaken millions of hands before hers.

‘So, Prince Harry.’ Nolan immediately said. Elena’s face turned a ghostly white. She then turned to Dean and shot him a nasty glare. Elena could just imagine him calling up his friends and blabbing about how he shagged the girl who dated a prince.

‘Yes. What about him.’ Elena’s tone was sharp and unwelcoming.

‘He’s a better fuck than Dean, isn’t he?’ Elena just scowled at him and stormed off. Elena could hear the sounds of footsteps chasing after her. She then felt Dean’s cold, sweaty hand clamp onto hers, stopping her from advancing any further to the cab. He swung her around.

‘How could you! You told him? How many other people did you tell! I came home to leave all of that business behind, not to bring it back up with people I don’t even know!’ Elena suddenly felt hot, like she was going to explode into thousands of tears in public.

‘I only told him, and it kind of slipped out. Don’t worry, he’s my best friend, he’s not going to tell anyone.’ Elena rolled her eyes at the utter bullshit that was coming from his mouth. ‘Please don’t leave; I have so much planned for this day.’ He pleaded. Elena could see in his eyes the amount of guilt and sorrow, telling her that he truly was sorry.

‘Fine.’ Elena wasn’t very pleased. ‘Can I ask you something?’ she said as he wrapped his arm around her shoulder and squeezing her body tight.

‘Anything.’ He smiled.

‘Why are you friends with him?’ Elena glanced over at Nolan who was obviously hitting on one of the models who Dean was going to be shooting.

‘We’ve been friends since the first grade. I know he can be a pain in the ass sometimes but he’s actually really chill when you get to meet him.’ He reassuringly smiled. ‘I’m sure he’s just nervous to meet an almost-princess.’ Elena let out a fake, but convincing, laugh. She was never going to be a princess and deep down she never really wanted to marry Harry in the first place. ‘Come on, let’s go back, I have tons to show you.’ Dean flirtatiously winked and then whisked her off to the photo shoot.

Dean walked Elena over to Nolan and this long legged model he was chatting up. Elena was disgusted as she listened to him hitting on the model. Sure, there was no lying that Nolan was attractive, but his personality was repulsive.

‘Hi, I’m Dean, I’m going to be the photographer today and I see that you’ve met Nolan already, he’s my assistant.’

‘Rain.’ She said, sticking out her long, bony arm towards Dean. He shook her hand and smiled at her contently. ‘And who is this?’ she questioned, looking at Elena.

‘This is my friend, Elena, she’s just going to be observing today.’ Elena flashed a tight lipped smile at the beautiful model.

‘It’s nice to meet you.’ she smiled back. ‘I have to go and get the rest of my hair done.’ She said, and pranced off without another word.

‘She was very beautiful, Elena said, sliding her hand down Dean’s arm and latching onto his hand. She felt him give her fingers a light squeeze.

‘Try smokin’ hot.’ Nolan proclaimed. ‘I know what I’m going to be doing tonight, or more like who.’ He laughed at his own joke, but Elena nor Dean thought that his crude comments were funny. He quickly stopped laughing when he noticed no one else was going to chime in with a giggle or two. ‘I’m going to go get her number.’ He said, and marched off towards the makeup and hair tent.

‘I’m sorry.’ Dean said right away. Even he knew that Nolan was being incredibly insensitive. ‘I don’t know what’s came over him today. He’s usually not this much of a prick.’

‘It’s okay.’ Elena reassured. Dean rested his hand on the nape of her neck and tried to steal a kiss, but Elena denied him, looking down to avoid her lips touching his. Dean moved his hand  to her warm cheek and slightly tilted her head up to meet his questioning glance.

‘Hey, what’s wrong.’ Elena’s eyes looked sombre and unhappy.

‘I’m just a tad paranoid with all of these cameras around. For a year I never kissed Harry in public as it was deemed as inappropriate by the royals to be seen constantly sucking face. I thought I was over that fear but when I heard the sounds of Nolan’s camera going off, I couldn’t help but think of this one time-.’ Elena trailed off, leaving her sentence incomplete.

‘What, what happened?’ Dean asked.

‘I, I just got in a large amount of trouble once from Harry’s father because we were blasted on the cover of a bunch of news papers because of kissing in public. His father despises me.’ Elena sighed.

‘Well, good thing you don’t have to deal with him anymore.’ Dean smirked. ‘We can kiss whenever and wherever we want now.’ He placed his cold fingers to her chin and then met her lips with his. Elena quickly pulled away from his grasp as she was still uncomfortable with the idea of kissing anyone in public.

‘Come on, show me how to use these crazy cameras.’ Changing the subject. Elena grabbed onto his hand and pulled him over to all of his equipment.

‘So,’ Dean said, picking up one of the largest cameras Elena had ever seen. ‘I’m going to use this one today, with this sun cover.’ He picked up this large thing that Elena assumed was the sun cover. He clipped it on and then pointed the lens at Elena and snapped a few photos.

‘Beautiful.’ Dean muttered as he looked through the playback.

‘Stop it!’ Elena screeched playfully. Dean took even more as Elena turned and ran away. He chased her while still clicking all sorts of buttons. Elena could hear the sound of the shutter opening and closing every couple of seconds. Dean caught up to her quickly and scooped her up in his arms. As Elena turned around in his grasp to face him, she could feel his warm minty breath on her neck. Dean tightly held on to her hips and Elena had flung her arms onto Dean’s broad shoulders. Elena could feel herself crushing Dean’s camera that was wrapped around his body, but neither of them cared in the moment. Elena pushed herself up onto her toes and met Dean’s lips. She lightly kissed him, only for a few seconds, but she could feel his love in their exchange. Dean pulled away from her pursed lips.

‘I thought you didn’t want to do that in public.’ Dean said, slightly confused.

‘With you I don’t have to worry anymore, I don’t have to worry about the paps or the reporters or anyone judging me and I don’t have to abide by anyone’s rules but my own. So now if you don’t want to kiss me, then fine, but I must say you do look a hell of a lot sexier with that thing strapped around your neck.’ Elena smirked. Dean quickly put his palms to her flushed cheeks and closed the small gap between their lips. He forcefully pushed his lips to hers and Elena pushed back. It took her every ounce of strength to not start undoing the zipper on his coat. Elena knew that he was having the same troubles as Dean kept fidgeting with the buttons on her coat, trying to decided if he would get fired from the photo shoot if he started removing Elena clothes piece by piece. Just as Elena slipped her hand on the back on  Dean’s warm neck they heard a loud yell.

‘Dean, stop sucking face and get your pretty butt over here. We start in ten.’ Nolan bellowed over to the passionate couple. Elena leaped away from Dean; her cheeks not red from the fall air, but from the embarrassment of everyone now glaring at them.

Dean scurried off over to the set, leaving Elena to stand awkwardly alone.

Elena was startled by persistent feeling of vibrations coming from her satchel. She flipped open her purse and pulled out her cell phone. The caller ID read the girl with the dimples. Elena had programmed all of her friends with different names, just in case she lost her phone.

Elena answered it and put her phone to her ear.

‘Why hello there darling, what’s up?’

‘Elena, I have to tell you something.’ Kate sounded worried, as if she had done something horribly wrong.

‘I have to tell you something too.’ Elena said. She knew that she had to tell Kate about Dean. She had to tell her best friend these things, even if she was going to be mad.

‘What is it?’ Kate asked.

‘I, well, I kind of met someone. He’s amazing.’ Elena sighed. Kate didn’t say anything for a few seconds, at least. Elena knew in those seconds that maybe expressing that thought wasn’t the wisest decision that she could have made.

‘Oh, well that’s nice.’ Elena didn’t believe her for a second. ‘What’s he like?’ Elena knew that Kate didn’t actually want to hear what Dean was like, but she asked, so she was going to tell her.

‘His name is Dean, and he’s really nice. He’s utterly perfect for me in every way, really. He’s not too tall, and he’s got dark shaggy air and the most beautiful eyes I’ve ever seen. He’s a photographer, I’m actually at one of his shoots right now. He really cares about me and how I’m feeling. He makes really good coffee. And, the best part, he’s an amazing kisser.’ Elena heard Kate make a weird grunt on the other line, suggesting to Elena that she wasn’t overly thrilled with that last part.

‘Well it sounds like your happy.’ Kate mumbled.

‘I am. I really, really am.’  Elena smiled to herself. She truly was, she was happy with Dean. ‘So what is it that you wanted to tell me.’ Elena asked.

‘Yesterday I was with, erm, Harry.’ The sound of his name sent a weird shooting pain to her heart. Elena closed her eyes and thought of Dean. ‘We were talking about you and how-.’

‘No.’ Elena said, cutting Kate off. She was suddenly furious. ‘I’m happy. I don’t care how sad Harry is anymore, it’s not my problem. He did this to himself. Even if he came to my door and begged me to take him back, I wouldn’t because he hurt me. But most of all, I’m happy with Dean. Everything about Dean is amazing he treats me with the respect that Harry never once gave me. I have to go now.’ And with that, Elena hung up. She didn’t give Kate another second to rebuttal. She didn’t care what she had to say anymore, even if she was calling to tell her that Harry was coming.

Elena slipped her phone back into her purse and jogged over to Dean.

‘Hey, sexy.’ She whispered in ear. She kissed his shoulder discreetly.

‘I’m going to be done in about an hour, so you can do whatever you want. You can stay or go do something else, but just meet me back here, okay?’

‘I’m going to go on a quick walk around the block.’ Elena said, then turned away and started down the street. She began to think about Kate and what she wanted to say to her before she had hung up on her. What if it was something important that she needed to know? What if it she was sick or someone else was, like Gran or Phillip. But she knew that she was too stubborn to call her back. Elena hated admitting that she did something wrong. She sat on a bench for about forty five minutes just hoping and praying that everything was okay back home. She hoped that Kate and William were super happy and that Claire’s working skills had improved so that Gran didn’t have to do all the work herself.

Her phone rang and she quickly rummaged through her purse to pull it out. She looked at the caller ID only to see that it was Dean calling.

‘I’m all done if you want to come back now.’ He said, his voice was deep and sultry.

‘I’ll be right there.’ Elena hung up the phone and slid it into her bag. She raced back to Dean.

She watched as his face lit up when she came jogging around the corner.

‘Ready to go home?’ Elena asked.

‘Home?’ Dean let out a loud laugh. ‘We’re not going home yet, I have so much more in store for you.’ Dean leaned in and gave her a quick peck on her perfectly shaped lips.

Hope this was an okay chapter, since you all waited SO long for it (sorry about that) Tell me what you thought of the chapter and what you think is going to happen next! I love to hear your predictions!
